Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Creating an account on SokoHero is free and easy:

  1. Click "Sign Up" in the top navigation or go to the registration page
  2. Fill in your name, email, phone number (format: 254XXXXXXXX), and password
  3. Verify your email address using the code sent to your email
  4. Start browsing or listing cars!

How do I list my car for sale?

To list your vehicle:

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Click "Sell Your Car" in the navigation or go to the sell page
  3. Fill in all vehicle details (make, model, year, price, condition, etc.)
  4. Upload clear photos of your vehicle (multiple angles recommended)
  5. Add a detailed description
  6. Submit for review - your listing will be published after approval

How do I search for cars?

Use our search and filter options:

  • Browse all listings on the "Browse Cars" page
  • Use the search bar to find specific makes or models
  • Filter by price range, location, year, condition, and more
  • Save your favorite searches for quick access

Account & Profile

How do I verify my email?

After registration, check your email for a verification code. Enter the code on the verification page. If you didn't receive the email, check your spam folder or request a new code.

How do I reset my password?

Click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your email, and follow the instructions sent to your email to reset your password.

How do I update my profile?

Go to your account settings from the dashboard or profile menu. You can update your name, phone number, and profile photo there.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account Settings → Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data. Make sure to remove any active listings first.

Buying a Car

How do I contact a seller?

Click "Chat with Seller" on any car listing. You must be logged in to send messages. You can also view the seller's phone number (if provided) or use the WhatsApp link.

How do I save favorite listings?

Click the heart icon on any car listing to save it to your favorites. View all your saved listings in the "Favorites" section of your dashboard.

Does SokoHero verify vehicles?

SokoHero reviews listings for completeness and accuracy, but we do not physically inspect vehicles. Buyers should always inspect vehicles in person and verify all documentation before purchasing. See our Safety Tips for more information.

What should I check before buying?

Always verify:

  • Vehicle documentation (logbook, ownership)
  • Physical condition of the vehicle
  • VIN/chassis number matches documentation
  • No outstanding loans or liens
  • Seller's identity matches documentation

Selling a Car

How much does it cost to list a car?

Basic listings are free! You can create a listing with photos and details at no cost. We also offer promotional packages to boost your listing's visibility for a fee.

How long does listing approval take?

Most listings are reviewed and approved within 24 hours. Make sure your listing includes all required information and clear photos to avoid delays.

How do I edit or delete my listing?

Go to your dashboard, find your listing, and click "Edit" to make changes. To delete, click "Delete" and confirm. Remember to remove sold listings promptly.

What photos should I include?

Include clear photos of:

  • Front, back, and side views
  • Interior (dashboard, seats)
  • Engine bay
  • Any damage or special features
  • Wheels and tires

Good photos help your listing sell faster!

How do I create a business profile?

If you're a dealer or business, go to Account Settings → Business Profile to set up your business information, logo, and get verified dealer status.

Payments & Transactions

How do payments work?

SokoHero is a platform that connects buyers and sellers. We do not process payments. Buyers and sellers arrange payment directly. We recommend using secure methods like bank transfers or mobile money (M-Pesa). See our Safety Tips for payment safety guidelines.

Are there any fees?

Basic listings and browsing are free. We may charge fees for promotional packages or featured listings. Any fees will be clearly disclosed before you commit.

What if I have a payment dispute?

SokoHero is not a party to transactions between buyers and sellers. Payment disputes should be resolved directly between the parties involved. If you encounter fraud or suspicious activity, report it to us immediately and contact the police if necessary.

Safety & Security

How do I stay safe when meeting sellers/buyers?

Always meet in public, well-lit locations. Bring someone with you. Verify documentation before payment. See our comprehensive Safety Tips page for detailed guidelines.

What should I do if I see a suspicious listing?

Use the "Report" button on the listing to report it to us. Provide as much detail as possible. We review all reports and take appropriate action.

What if I've been scammed?

Report to the police immediately. Contact SokoHero support with all relevant information. If payment was involved, contact your bank or mobile money provider. Keep all communication records as evidence.

Technical Support

I can't log in to my account

Make sure you're using the correct email and password. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot Password" link. If your account is locked, contact support.

My listing isn't showing up

Check your dashboard to see if your listing is pending approval. If it's been more than 24 hours, contact support with your listing details.

I'm not receiving emails

Check your spam/junk folder. Make sure the email address in your account is correct. If you still don't receive emails, contact support.

The website isn't loading properly

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Make sure you're using an updated browser. If the problem persists, contact our technical support.
